my car won't start

so we rebuilt my KA24DE motor on my 91 240sx. The engine fully rotates but it won't fire on. we get spark, fuel, etc. we got the crank turned, head cleaned and resurfaced, new main/rod bearings, gasket kit, seals, timing chains, etc. got everything put back together and we've tried all different things. we got a feelings its the timing marks but don't know for sure.

online i've found the timing marks on the cam gears are different then whats in the chilton's manual, is this true? if so what should all the timing marks be on the cam gears, idler sprocket, crankshaft sprocket, and in what direction should the distributor rotor be turned too. maybe we're missing somethin small.

Right now the cam gears are set to 11 and 1 o clock, idler sprocket at 1 o'clock, the crankshaft sprocket at 3 o'clock, and the distributor rotor pointed up and toward the left at about 10 o'clock roughly.

Photos would be great, help me out guys please, my 1st car not to mention i need transportation.
