NA moddin time... header, EGR block off...
Already installed I have an injen intake with K&N oil coated filter, high flow cat, cat back exhaust and safc.
My plan in the next week or two is to install a header, block off the EGR system, replace my knock sensor and IACV while I have the intake mani torn apart and install a wideband o2. I got a bung put into my exhaust from the shop that made it.
My plan for the EGR block off is to use a plate that I have to bolt the intake manifold and get a 24mm bolt for the header. Then use a resistor to trick the computer. I’m curious if I want to use a resistor to make the engine think it’s always warm or always cold. I’m thinking always warm because then the EGR system would be closed.
I’m thinking of getting the AEM gauge type wideband and sensor and then tieing it into my carputer…. Which will be the next project once this header/egr thing is finished.
Anyone know where to get a 24mm bolt? (I’ve read that’s the right size for egr tube)
Has anybody used a resistor to emulate the EGR sensor for maximum performance?
Also any tuning tips on a s14 NA KA with wideband and safc2 would be appreciated.

yeaup the block off is 5 bucks and takes all of 10 min to install. or you could just get a assorted brass plug kit for about 6 bucks from your local parts store and screw one in.
Um, thanx for the responses guys but if you'd read my whole post you'd see a few things. I already have a block off plate, my car is a 95, and I do need a resistor for the exaust gas temp sensor. The gas range adapter and brass plugs are good ideas though.
from what i've read the only reason you need a resister it to keep the cel from coming on. beside the resistor will only come in handy on really cold days. w/o a resistor your car will idle kind of rough until your engine reaches normal operating temp.
Yeah, I don't want my cell on and rough idle is bad for your engine.
Blocked off the EGR on Sunday. Took forever to get the intake manifold off and back on... didn't even get it all the way off, just enough to get the EGR system out and replace the IACV. I removed the screw on the EGR pipe by hacking the pipe and screwed it down on top of a nickel, fits perfectly! Didn't remove the EGT and so I don't think I'll need to add in the resistor. No cell yet. Power is noticeably increased, more midrange torque for sure a little more top end too. Got my AEM wideband o2 and gauge today, gonna install that along with a hotshot header next weekend. I was worried about my idle or cold start being rough with no EGR but my idle is actually better and very stable.
it idles fine because after a while your ecu will make adjustments to accommodate for the lack of recirculated gas and such.

Re: FuriousZ
I didn't need a resistor because I didn't remove the EGR temp sensor which is in the manifold. I have a 95 but it SHOULD be the same for your 93. I will try and take some pics and write down the process for you one of these next couple days.
