my long story somewhat

yeah, I'm back, for awhile, until I ship out.

Anyways, I've been trying to find time to work on my car, but I'm always working, so all the parts I bought for my car last, which is in show and shine somewhere, is still sitting in my bedroom, which I rearranged couple of weeks ago.

anyways, I haven't bought any new parts, since the last parts, due to no money, even though I work like 40 hours a week, I only make $6.25/hr.

about 2-3 months later....

Friday 20071207, this Navy recruiter comes in the gas station where I work at, and I'm thinking not this $hit again, I'm tired of them coming in and saying I should join for no good reason. So he comes in and asks me if thats my 90' 240 outside, I'm thinking "What the Hell" he knows what it is???"

So being nice I say "yes", and he asked if I done any motor swaps or turbo addons or so!

I reply yeah, an SR20DET, he says thats a hell of a motor, too bad they never actually came in the 240sx's in the US.

And of course I say, yeah, but hey if we did have it the replacement parts would be a crazy price, even though they pretty much anyways.

so anyways, he asks how long I've worked at the station, I reply TOO DAMN LONG, I think 2 or 2-1/2 years. he asks if I like it, and I say hell no I'm tired of the place.

He asks me if I ever thought of joining the navy, I reply yeah, once, but the other guy who asked me said that "I need to join" and I said no thanks I'd rather go army.

he looks at me like i'm crazy.

anyways about 20-30 minutes later of talking about cars, the navy, and a bunch of other stuff. he asks me if I'd like to take a practice ASVAB test.

Since he was being pretty cool, I said yeah sure why not.

so he said, I'll pick you up at your house at 11:00am on monday and go back to the office.

I say ok thats cool.

skip a couple of days, and its finally monday.

Monday at 10:00am he calls me and lets me know he is on his way to my house.

he gets to my house picks me up, and takes me to the office.

I take the test and score a 47 on it, which is higher than the national average, to pass the test you have to make a 35 or better.

So anyways, we talk about what type of jobs there are in the navy, and I like most of the electronic/computer jobs they have.

So after about an hour of being by myself, I go back to the recruiter and ask about other stuff.

I'm skipping a few hours here!!!

so he takes me back home, and we sit down and talk with my grandparents, who i live with, and DAMN proud I live with them, I can help them out when they need help.

so anyways, after talking to them, I decide to try to join. I tell him to call me when he's on his way to pick me up again. and he leaves for the night

Skipping some stuff

The next morning Tuesday 20071208, he gets to my house, and says that he forgot to take a urine test for drugs, so I go and do that, and come back and he tests it, and of course I pass, because drugs are for losers!!!

so anyways, he asks if I'm ready and have everything I needed. and I say yes.

so after an hour, we get to the office, we do $hit-ton of paper work, OH MY GOD, I have never signed and initialed so many papers before, I swear it was like 100+ times within the 3-4 hours it took. after that I was transported to Dallas MEPS facility to take the Real ASVAB test, after that I get the paper that has my score, and I call my recuiter, and tell him, that I made a 45 on it, which is still pretty good.

so after waiting about 2-3 hours me, and another 9 or 10 people is taken to the Crown Plaza Hotel in Dallas, to stay the night.

skipping again here.

I fall asleep at 12:00 give or take, and at 3:30am the wake up call happens. 4:00 we eat, 5:00 we get on the bus back to the meps building.

There I have to go through a long process, which includes, blood drawn, othro, physical, **** in the cup while some guy watches you, drop boxer bend over and spread a$$ cheeks (TMFI).

I've been doing that since 5:30am, after I finish all that its 9:00. I go eat the free lunch, and wait, and wait and wait, for them to call my name, finally at about 10:20 they call my name, so I go in the navy office, and they say wait there, and go there and wait, and some more waiting, and after about another 20 minutes, there ready for me.

They go over my paperwork, and ask me crap ton of questions to make sure I didn't leave anything off, or lie and what not.

so after that, the guy says go back to the lobby and wait until they call my name again. I wait for about 30-40 minutes. Its like 12:30 now. I'm tired as hell, and been waiting mostly a good 60% of that time between 5:30 to 12:30

They finally call my name, I get to choose my job. they only had 3 jobs available for my test score, it includes operating heavy machinery (bulldozers, cranes, etc), something that I can't remember, and SECF (submarine electronics/computer field).

So after about 10-15 minutes thinking about it I choose the SECF job.

skipping some more stuff here

comes to find out there is some paperwork missing from the computer, my recruiter was having problems with the computers, so he came down to the meps, and did it there, I talked to him about the job, and tells me that most of the people who do get SECF offer scores 75 or better on the test.

So that means, I scored very high in electronics, math, and something else.

So I'm pretty damn proud of myself.

oh by the ways its 1:30 now.

after he finished the paperwork on the computer, I finally get to swear in.

By the time I do that its after 3:30, and I have to be at work at 5:00 100+ miles away.

so my recruiter and I hightails it out of the meps building, and its a rainy, gloomy and cold day. and we have to walk almost a mile where he parked at.

so anyways, he get out of dallas, pass ft worth, get to my job at 5:30.

my manager is pissed at me for being 30 minutes late. Whatever man, just leave me alone, I've been awake for pretty much 35-40 hours, I got about 2 hours of sleep last night.

"I don't care you said you will be here at 5:00"

WHAT EVER LEAVE ME ALONE

so he leaves (my manager) pissed

and at 10:00 he comes back to help close, he gets pissed that I didn't finish the trash and replace the credit card machine tape paper.

I just yell at him, "F#CKING HELL I HAVE BEEN WAKE FOR THE PAST 35-40 HOURS, I DON'T CARE IF I MISSED SOMETHING SO SMALL!!!"

I walk out get in my moms car (my car is at home), she takes me home, and we talk about what happened in dallas.

anyways to make a long story short...

I joined the navy and got a hell of a job, the only job above mine in electronics, is Nuclear engineering.

So I ship out march 18, 2008, and after that I have 2 years of college for electronic and computer technology before I even get to step foot on a submarine. Once I get out, I get a $9000. cash bonus and a rank of E-4

I will have 6 months duty, out on the sea in a submarine, I get a sea bonus, and a sub bonus which I think I might get an extra $400-$500 per month.

So I'm happy, I got a bad *** job, full benefits, job security, 401K or something like that, you name it I probably will have it!

Long story, damn my hands are cramped up!!!

let me know what you guys think!!!

EDIT:

Basic Training is in Great Lakes Illinios

and College Training is in Groton CT, anyone around this area???

sweet man, when are you going to be up at great lakes? If it's in the summer you get to go to Six Flags Great America (i believe for free) and a free White Sox game.

Just take your server with you. It is an impressive setup. Maybe if you make it to six flags this year we can chill or something.

man, as much as I would like to, I can't, its rackmounted, and it would take forever to take down, package it up, and ship, and then have to set it back up again.

however, when I get a chance I will ship my gaming system up to connecticut.

Sounds good about Six Flags, if I can get a chance to go there.
