My first car was an 89 240sx fastback. I drove it for about a year when it finnaly broke down. now i drive a 94 ford ranger and my 240sx sit in the driveway at my house. in college my roomate is big into sreetracing and is in a car club. they all have imports and every night they go out and race mustangs. they smoke them of course. i told my roomate about my 240sx and he told me it can be a fast car. there is one problem i dont know a lot about modifing cars. thats is why i sighned up. i was hoping i can get adviced.
my 240sx isnt running right now but this summer im going to see if i can do an engine swap with silvia rs20,adivce from my roomate,if anyone could tell me how much thats going to run me i would be gratefull. also if anyone has good advice for othe mods i would apprciate it.

 

Hey man, you have come to the right place. The people on this board know their stuff. You can read up more about engine swaps and stuff in that forum.

A sr20 swap will cost you in the range of 3000-6000 depending on where you get the engine, condition, and who is doing the work for you (much cheaper if you do it yourself, labor costs are killer). I forgot some of the links but there a couple good ones in other threads.

As for other mods, I'd suggest you save up your money for the swap if you are serious about doing it.

 

Where would be the best place and cheapest place to find the engine. my roomate has friends that will help me do the swap. i just got to find an engine.

 

if you replace the timing kit and whatever else it needs....you'll have tons of fun.
