Blackzenki82's Gold Zenki SR build thread.
okay, so an update.... and i'm pissed....
TPS sensor is gone to ****, and the one i got to replace it, doesn't FIT!!!!! ARG!!!
i need the other one, where the "lever" is inside the circle and not outside...

so i pull all my OEM stuff out to put the 550's/Z32/Enthalpy ECU BACK in the car (remember, trading OEM ECU/APEXi filter for BIKIrom ECU), all goes well, car runs smooth for a while, then RPMs drop to like 400, and white smoke pours out the back like I'm seafoaming my car! OH NOES!!! smelled like unburnt gas something serious...
SO, i go ahead, and while i have everything else kinda pulled i do a compression test, make sure i didn't blow something out/up.....

SO, pretty much 160 across the board, always nice... so to try to resolve the issue, i replaced the plugs (old set #1 plug was black and wet, unburnt gas), and then hooked evey thing back up, and restabbed the CAS back and set timing at the crank.... in this pic you can kinda see the two darker links, above the crank notches, and perfect TDC...

so as you can see everything is as it should be, notches on the grears match the links, the CAS notches line up like they should....
so i put evey thing back together, and cranked her up again... this time, not bad... not exactly perfect either, it was still stumbling, but not as bad as before, and no white smoke, i guess that other plug just fouled out.... so i check time, disconnect my bad TPS, and crank it back up and throw the light on it... and it's over from 20* about 2 inches, but every time i go to set the notch at 15* the motor seems like it's about to die, like it's retarded (and not mentally retarded). it only runs somewhat smooth when i have it at about "45*" as far as the needle's concerned... why the **** is it doing this???
so i got fed up with it all, got it to where it idles SOMEWHAT normal, and parked it beside my car port, then had the bright idea "why don't i pull codes off the ECU, and see what's happening?"... so i do, and here's the results
code 11= CAS (here's a new one!)
code 43= TPS (already knew about that tho....)
so here i sit, writing this, fed up....

lol, yeah pretty sure, except i think my old 5.0 GT had less problems than this ******* car...
either way, anyone got a TPS that looks like this? need to buy it like yesterday....

also, anyone have any idea about the idle timing thing? and why 45* is smooth?

update already..... i fixed a few things....
Stole a redtop throttle body from my buddys motor... TPS? FIXED
replaced the CAS with the extra one that came with the car when i bought it... CAS? FIXED
Set time right at 15*, i was doing it wrong, epstein helped me out...timing? FIXED
MAF code, well i was lazy and didn't solder the wires when i installed the Z32 MAF, i just twisted em together, and the wires on my harness side were kinda old, and oily, most likely a bad connection, so tomorrow i'll get off my lazy ***, and do it right and solder it like i should have to begin with.... last time i had it in my car, i had no problems, then again, last time i soldered it in.....
other than that, just a bit of white smoke from running rich (most likely due to MAF no reading right), car idles relatively smooth (better after MAF fix)... and car runs nice... no problemos!!!
tomorrow i solder, and get this fugger dialed in..... at least I'm back to having over 300hp again..... for a while anyways....

sorry to tell you man but white smoke is not from running rich, its coolant. if its grey smoke then its oil and black smoke is from running rich.
if you see any slightly tuned car take off you will see a little plume of black smoke come out the exhaust from running rich.
make sure your oil isnt milky or your coolant isnt brown.

i soldered the MAF wires ( i should have in the first place), rechecked time, fixed a short in my main harness that went to the TPS, and went a for a spin.... she still idled low, and kept stalling on me EVERY TIME i pushed the clutch in, and well, i just adjusted the idle screw and now no more stalling and straight haul ***.... time to find another 350z to murder..
running good now, still stalls from time to time, but that's probably because i need to recirculate my BOV

well guys, not much of an update but i figured i would post some pics of the car now that some of the issues have been squared away, and i got things a bit cleaned up....
motor shot....

may not look like much, but this is what it was when i bought it....

i also got a new used bottom mount mani... i'll be putting this in when the motor gets pulled to put in the new car... so yay MOAR POWAZ

and check this **** out, over the past few weeks, this has been going on in my "automotive shelf" in my car port....
WTF?

******* birds!!!!

awwwww.....

i don't have the heart to tear it out, so i guess i have a little bird family living on my shelf.....
that's all for now guys!!!

UPDATE!!!!
so i'm going to this drift event/practice at desoto in Bradenton FL, and i needed to swing by my sponsors shop for a few things, and came back with more than some free tires, my usual SCCA helmet and SCCA approved fire extinguisher... it's not much, but i scored a full set of swastika Z wheels with a decent set of tires, AND, i get to keep the wheels free of charge for my dorifto events... and now for the pics.....
the swastika Z wheels aren't much, and i'll be refinishing them soon....

Don Ahens personal SCCA helmet, with air breather and comm system...fire extinguisher too...

and a ****ty photoshop of what the swastikas will look like on my car for the event....

other than that, sponsors kick ***.... free parts, shop time, etc... it may not be a "pro" sponsorship, but it's nice to know Don Ahrens and his shop has my back, and keeps me stocked.... AWESOME shop too... swaps, tunes, repair etc... Nissan/Zcar/infinity specialists...
other than that, stay tuned for pics and vids of the drift event this sunday if your interested!!!

so guys, just a small update, nothing special really....
i sold my Bikirom ECU, well traded with cash on top for this other ECU, it's a GRID tuned ECU, straight from japanland, which kinda sucks, cause if i ever want it reflashed, guess where i would have to send it? yeah Japan...
either way... It also came with a EPROM chip Burner with USB and data cables for EPROM reflashing, who the hell know's how to use that, except the higher end guys with knowledge above mine.... anyways, here's a couple pics....
ECU and EPROM burner

EPROM burner thing....

so the current tune on this ECU is....
14lbs boost
FMIC
3" Exhaust
Stock injectors
Stock MAF
hotter timing map
speed limiter cut
Fuel cut, cut
SS manifold (i have one, just need to install it)
pretty ordinary, but more than stock, i guess it could be considered a "Stage 1" tune...
so after installation, i went for a drive, man, nice and smooth, A/F reads perfect, no leaning out, no running over rich, smooth idle, and DEFINITELY better than it was before when i was running stock stuff... not bad at all...
with that other tune i was running pig rich, i mean black smoke and all... and stalling from fuel dumping... i don't know what it was about that set up on my motor, but it just didn't like it.... on my buddy's it ran fine....
either way.... more to come eventually...
