easy to check if its the turbo pull of the intake pipe and try to spin it. if you cant spin it with your fingers its done lol.

um but im betting its the MAF

also your vacuum is quite strange at idle im -21 -20 and thats normal. cruising you really cant tell cause it changes depending on throttle position.

make sure you got no vacuum leaks and replace the MAF

TPS? Check your wires. I know my TPS wiring was screwed up and it was bucking and dying on me then it would go back to normal then it died. I played with the wires and was able to drive it back to the shop.

yeah... i cleaned the MAF... same thing, haven't had a chance to check the TPS..

but after driving it to a safer location, in attempt to nurse it home, the car bucked, sputtered and finally died.... with the smell of burning brake fluid on the passenger side of the engine bay... i'm thinking melting wires, i have a short some where...

it's a JGY customs harness, and they're known for mixed reviews about thier stuff, so i think my next option is to just order a new OEM harness, and convert it to S14 myself, that way, i know the work, and what's been done...

so get this.... i go to start my car, to back it out of the spot i pulled into, and a ton of smoke came out of the engine bay... so i cut the car off and joked with the tow truck driver "no better place for a engine fire than right here in the parking lot of the fire Dept"... popped the hood and low and behold.... smoke POURING out from under the coil pack cover... i get hte car home, pull the cover and the plug to Cyl#1 is fused and melted to the coil pack...

luckily enough, i had a spare harness, and coil pack, i install them, and motor came to life, sounded good for 3 seconds then dropped to like 400 RPM and sounded like it was firing on 2 cyls...

i'm still thinking at this point of buying a new OEM S13 SR harness, and sending it to Taylor Durdan to convert it to S14, PREOFESSIONALLY.... i thought i did a good job... appearantly not....

here's what i've done so far...

no smoke from exhaust

MAF cleaned

TPS @ .51v (i know, supposed to be .45v, but still within .45-.52 range)

smells like a 2 cycle... rich as hell, but wideband reads LEAN.. and i mean --- no reading lean..

i'll have to do a vac/boost test soon, but I'm pretty sure that's not the problem...

coolant temp sensor has been replaced...

coil pack replaced

coil pack harness replaced

constantly checking codes- all clear (weird i know)

any other input other than boost leak test? i'm thinking harness..... but at least the car is at my house now.... nice and safe!

My guess is that there was some oil or something down the hole and the coil was heating up the oil and that is where all the smoke came from. Check down the tubes to see if there is oil in there. If there is, then redo the valve cover gasket.

If that isnt the prob, then maybe it is your wiring. Did you solder all the connections and is there any part of the coil harness that you touched? Also do you think that maybe some of the wires got pinched during removal or install? Pull your harness out and check everything again.

Did you change anything on the harness while it was out of the car? It sounds like a wiring issue. If you used electrical tape on the harness, maybe you didnt wrap the wires enough times and they could be shorting out.

What heat rating are you using for your plugs? You should prob be running 7s or 8s with higher boost. You prob know that though.

Good luck finding the problem and keep us updated.

no oil down there in hole... for sure, i've already had that issue in the gold car, and remedied it in the new black one during the swap over...

as for the harness, here's the process i took to shorten it... Cut a wire, slipped on heat shrink, soldered, and heat shrunk.... did it WIRE BY WIRE, i didn't want to mess anything up so i figured that would be the best bet...

i'm using the NGK BKNR7's or whatev's... it's the 7's...

i'll be pulling my harness today, do a quick once over before i buy an all new one and send it off to Durdan, or Fever Racing to have it professionally done... money is no issue when it comes to the veins and arteries of my motor...

i'll keep y'all updated!!!

i did a little test today on the 240.... i took some brake parts cleaner, and sprayed all vac/boost sources, couplers, vac lines... and nothing happened... car barely runs, UNTIL i spray the air filter... spray that, and the car idles right on up and purrrrrrs like a kitten... no where else tho, only the air filter... would this be an indecator or a bad MAF? or something else???

one thing i CANNOT understand, is why my wideband pegs out lean, yet the exhaust smells like a gas pump... i mean, it might as well have gasoline dripping out the exhaust....

get a new airfilter or maf? Maybe the wiring is messed up on your MAF? Check it again..
