turbo install questions
turbo install questions
im going turbo later in the year, currently saving up for it. in order to move the process along i was thinking about buying the kit, which will make me want to save faster for the install once i have it. i want to have it professional done because its costing me enough for the kit and i want everything done right. my friends a bmw mechanic that could help with an install, but bmws dont have turbos, so i dont want anything to get messed up with oil lines etc.
anyway my question is, when i get my kit, is there anything we can install before the turbo goes on?
such as...
bigger injectors, do bigger injectors mean u will run rich, or do they only enable you to put more fuel in when your stock one maxes out?
fuel rail?
fuel pump? once again im not sure if this is just for making your fuel system capable of delivering a lot of fuel or if it is full time hi pressure.
thanks in advance

well heres the fuel pump answer:
If you're using the walbro as a stock replacement because it's cheaper, like I did, then you should be aware of something. The stock fuel pressure regulator gets overrun by the 255 lph pump, and causes your fuel pressure to be too high, which will cause your car to run rich. I've had a rich condition for a while, and have been going nuts trying to figure out what it was. Turns out it was the walbro pump. My idle fuel pressure is 40psi, when it's supposed to be 34psi. Since the ECU only knows to open the injector for a certain amount of time, a higher fuel pressure makes it unwittingly inject more fuel. The solution of course is to buy an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.
anyone know about the injectors and rail?

My fuel pressure was right at 34 with stock regulator and 255lph pump so I think what you said is wrong. You can run bigger injectors and not run rich if the ecu is tuned right. Ive seen 850cc injectors idle just fine. The stock fuel rail should be ok to 400hp, unless you want to run cheaper top feed injectors with a jwt program.
