The tire size excuse is golden because 1. The cop or judge has no idea how big your tires are in reality and 2. It shows a legitimate reason for your excessive speed more than likely on a first offense you will get the benefit of the doubt. Plus I swear I have used that excuse and beat 2 recklesses in Fairfax county as well as speeding tickets from every county around. Majority of the time cases are dismissed, very low fine and once traded a reckless charge for a defective equip. in Price William county.

my tickets:
77 in a 50
72 in a 25
66 in a 65
36 in a 35
two counts of "aggressive" driving
one count of wreckless driving
oh yeah, two restraining orders against local police officers because the alleged 72mph, 66mph, and 36mph infractions were fabricated...yeah thats right the a**hole lied on a ticket 3 times in 2 days then tried to tack me with aggressive driving charges for 'apexing' corners on a road without painted lines...anyways a good lawyer is worth its weight in gold...and it shouldnt cost nearly that much to hire one

Yo in my first year driving I got intoi 1 non ruin, 1 totaled car crash and 6 tickets. You just have to take that driving course and they take the points off, Play dum and childish and that you didn't know and "I'll never do it again" speel and It'll work for ya, maybe cry a litle. I've taken that driving course 9 times allready and the law says I can only take it once a year, 5 times in my life. Bull....
Yo I'm a cop expert, And I know were they stand by to track people so I always go slow, this one time they stoped me and other 3 kids out of highschool to check the cars and what not , And I said I didn't wanted too, they started to say lots of s**t and how they could get a search warrant. I told them to get it and they never got one So I started to make fun of them like making pig noises, and After they told me to go on about my buisnes I said thanks, now go to your sherif office in the dunking donuts.... the other 3 kids lafged, but they got tickets.....

I haven't read all of the responses in this thread, but if you hadn't known already, talk to your attorney and have him ask the judge for a deferral. I think you must plead guilty. If you are granted a deferral by the judge, the "charges" will be "on hold", and in your situation, you musn't get any moving violations while driving for a period of time. If you stay "good" during the ammount of time, then the "charges" will be dropped and you won't have those violations on your abstract. The deferral is good only once.
I too had been charged for speeding and wreckless driving. The cops were full of ****, and I had no proof and neither did they. but who is the judge going to believe? The public defender said it didn't look good in my situation and it would be better if I had plead guilty and asked for a deferral. The judge granted my deferral and I have to avoid any moving violations for 6 months. It's been 5 already, and I am barely driving. I suppose I'm in the clear. But yeah, I admit that I speed at times, but what those ***** cops had charged me for was bull****. It's better to drive while you aren't in a rush because when you do, you'd most likely get pulled over. As long as you learn from this experience then you should be fine. Drive smart.
