ticking noise

I am getting a ticking noise right in the front underneath the valve cover. Does anyone know what it is and how to fix it.
Im thinking it might be my timing chain

I'm gonna say what everyone's gonna tell you...then tell you the answer.

SEARCH...

Now that that's out of the way...it's your timing chain guides. It's a problem on every s13 out there at some point. You can take off the covers and remove all the guides, making sure that none of the pieces (if broken) fell into the engine. You can either leave the guides off (as they are not needed)..or Nissan made a new, revised set that won't cause the problem.

Atown, it could be your tensioner, or actual chains. Your tensioner might not have its tension, thus your chain is loose like a hooker on payday. Try changing the tensioner first then if this is still not the issue, then its the chain behind it, or as they say, the lower chain.
