aftermarket ignition coils
^Well now see I think we have something here because....
I have an OBD-1 240 but I have an CAS
and I know it's an OBD 1 because
1. I dont have the OBD2 Diagnostic Port
2. I only have 1 o2 sensor where as the OBD2's had the secondary one on the Cat IIRC

ok vinnie we're either getting at the same thing through different words or i just don't get what you're saying.
so lets recap, the sohc engines have a cas in the dist. and an external coil as do the dohc up to 94. 95 and up have the coil in the dist. in obd 2 engines a single or multi coils are used right?

All 240sx's SOHC or DOHC have a Crank Angle Sensor. The CAS on OBD 2 is a Crank Angle Sensor as well but it uses an internal ignition coil. 240-kid was asking if he could ad a coil to his car. Which he can because his engine is OBD 1, you can't add coils to OBD2 hopefully that ends the confusion. Technically you don't have to upgrade the coils if you step up to iridium plugs, because those plugs offer maximum spark no matter what. SOHC engines don't offer iridiums, only laser platinum so in any case a coil would be better for teh SOHC's in my opinion..
