tapping noise?

tapping noise?

Hey guys I got a tapping noise coming from under the valve cover , I retorque the valve clamps but that did'nt work it only taps when it rev's to change gears, can anyone help??????

mine did that too...then i readjusted the cam timing a little bit...went right away...

was it on a sohc or dohc ? mine is dohc

mine is single.....but the same math should break down yours...old age will do it all the time

In cam timeing I assume you meen adjusting the timeing to a certain degree ??

A DOHC does not have the SOHC ability to adjust. That IS the beni of a SOHC.
The tapping can easily be the tensioner is shot and the chain is slapping the housing. If you have put at least 60k on it or have over 120k on the motor and you suspect the chain has never been done > > > > Do it... There is a good FAQ at the www.********** site. And Alot of info on Fresh Alloy...
